HOW TO MAKE SENSE OUT OF NONSENSE.

“What makes no sense now will make perfect sense later.”
~ Anonymous.

Thousands of people across the globe on daily bases give up on their projects, ideas, dreams, work, relationship and even life itself, because they feel or were told it/they don’t make sense. But have come to realize through researches and life experiences that what make little or no sense now, could be cherished by the wisest men tomorrow.
This is why I’m sharing this week on; How to Make Sense Out of Nonsense.

5 Ways to Make Sense Out of Nonsense

1. Employ the Power of Vision : vision is very powerful. Two sales men from a shoe manufacturing company in a town where no one wears shoe, saw different things. One saw a place where their products were not needed, to him it doesn’t make sense to sell shoes in a place where everyone go bare footed. And the other saw an untapped market for their shoes where there are no competitors. How you see any situation is what matter most; not how worst the condition is.
2. Develop Positive Mental Attitude : learn to be positive about every situation you find yourself, because it will create the right atmosphere for you to get the best out of it. Most of our worst situations if properly perceived are opportunities in disguised. Positive mental attitude will help you see the sense (opportunities) in any senseless situation.
3. Beware of People Options : because humans are limited and they don’t see what you see a times. Your closest associate out of having your best interest at heart could innocently talk you out of your dream or best idea(s). Don’t tabernacle on what people feel or say to judge your idea at all times. Because if it turns out successful, most of them that condemned it, will come back to say it is the most sensible thing they have ever seen. In some situations, it is not what people say or feel that matters, but rather what you say and feel is all that really count.
4. Give it Time : never be in an hurry to give up on any idea. If you can give it enough time, you will see it making lot of sense. Be patient with that relationship, work, project, career, talent, spouse, and what ever you feel is not making sense; everything is going to be alright. Persistence and patience are irreplaceable essential ingredients of success in anything. Give it some more time!
5. You need Knowledge : you need to know and understand that, it may not make any sense at first, go and cheek the history; greatest inventions suffer the worst criticism at their initial/raw stage(s). A search for a perfect (sensible) beginning is always endless. Be always conscious of the fact that, sense is a ‘nonsense’ that the ‘non’ has been removed. So, you need to arm yourself with the knowledge needed to move on in life no matter what and dare the great things that have kept men behind the podium of greatness.

Let me conclude by pointing out clearly that God is the best at making out sense from every senseless situation or person. And the wisest thing you can ever do is to seek His help. Remember, we struggle in life when we ignore God.

It’s my utmost desire to inspire you regularly. Just be your best even in your bends. Like my page and follow me on: www.facebook.com/osgblog

THE SENSE IN NONSENSE

Week 41

The Sense in Nonsense.

“Almost everything (including you) doesn’t make sense at first. But a man of understanding always draws sense from every senseless situation.”
~ Olusegun Samson G.

Just while Colonel Harland Sanders felt his life is no longer making sense, he caught an idea presumed by some at that time to be nonsense. But today, even a senseless person could see the sense in that idea.

Sanders at 65 was retired and broke with his life been far from a successful one. Sitting on a couch in front of his house in Corbin, Kentucky, a man walk up to him and handed him his first social security cheek. Looking at the cheek in his hand, said to himself, “the government is going to pay me 105dollars every month so I could etch out a life. There is definitely something I could do.”

Motivation working on him, thought for days what he could do. After several moment of thinking, an idea came to mind. He remembers his grandmother had a special way of frying chicken, and could also recollect how much they all love it. He packages his idea and started moving from one restaurant to the other with his special recipe looking for a potential franchisee. He was turned down by so many, but he never gave up.

Finally, he got his first customer and was offer a contract. He was getting a certain percentage for each of his sold chicken. In less than 7year, Sanders was fielding franchise requests steadily and had more than 600 restaurants across US and Canada selling his (Kentucky) Fried Chicken. And that was the beginning of Kentucky Fried Chicken, now popularly known as KFC; one of the world largest franchise.
At age 80, Colonel Sanders was a millionaire and a prominent personality in America and beyond.

So many of us had murdered great ideas that could have change our life forever or transform our generation, because someone/people told us they don’t make sense. We never took some vital steps and actions because we felt they are not going to make sense. Every great invention and outstanding accomplishments don’t always make sense at first. But achievers have learnt to always go further, it makes sense or not; because that’s the only way to know if it does.

Is that marriage not making sense, do you feel that job is a total mess. What ever the senseless situation that is starring at you may be; there is a sense in it. Don’t give up on that idea, relationship or dream, it may not be making sense now, but trust me it will. There is always a ‘sense’ after the little ‘non’ in non-sense.

Next week we will be going further, as I will be sharing with us on: How to Make Sense Out of Nonsense and Make Your Dreams Come Through. Don’t miss it.

Week 40

HOW TO BREAK BAD HABIT: - 7 Proven Steps To Breaking Bad Habit And Addiction.

“The most exhilarating achievement is breaking bad habit.”
~ Anonymous.

Almost every one of us have one bad habit or the other. From biting of nails, talkativeness, wasting time on social media, television and movies addictiveness, gambling, games, disordered eating, excessive sugar in-take, using sleep as escape, to more grievous ones like; smoking, drinking of alcohol, dangerous sexual practices, drug addiction, masturbation and racism among many others. The fact is, each day a new habit is formed or one is in the process of forming one. Beware!

Host of people all over the world lament everyday about one bad habit or the other. They hate doing it, but it’s like they can do without it. And in a bit to find solution, they do some ridiculous things that always end-up complicating things. I once heard of a young man who cut off his penis in a bit to stop his addiction to sex and masturbation. That foolish act claims his life. What a pity!

In the process of forming a bad habit, the beginning is usually sweet and seems harmless. But once formed, it becomes unstoppable and grievous like a moving training that looses it break. Bad habits are self-destructive. You have to make a choice to either break that bad habit or watch it break you.

Before we go into the 7 Proven Steps to Breaking a Bad Habit; please note this: Most of life is habitual, we do almost the same thing everyday. This is why you need to be conscious of what you do per time. Our habit, good or bad, makes us who we are.

7 Proven Steps To Breaking Bad Habits And Addictions

1. Acknowledge : the first step is to identify the bad habit you wish to stop and acknowledge it’s negative influence. Write the habit down and examine it self-destructive nature. For example, biting of nail do not just make you look ridiculous, it equally pose a serious threat to one’s health, as the finger nail is one of the most contaminated part of the body. No matter how harmless that bad habit may look like, if you try research about it negative impact, you will be startled by your findings.
2. Examine the Situational Background : habit are usually influence by certain emotional or situational background. You need to find out; when, where, why, how and with whom you perform the habit. When you understand the situational background of the habit, it makes it easy for you to develop a strategy to break the pattern.
3. Be Determine : we always under estimate our will-power. Bad habit could be difficult to break, but like every other thing, it always bows to the force of determination. Every true determination is backup by action induce by self-control. Just make up your mind to stop. You can.
4. Work on your Thought: the foundation of every habit is laid in the mind. There are images, voices and ideas in the mind that are fueling the bad habit by generation bad thought. Habit is the product of our most dominating thought. So to stop a bad habit, you need to kill a bad thought. Bad thought are best kill with ‘but’. For example, it feels nice to smoke, but I will not, because it will affect my health. When you ‘but kill’ your bad thought, over time your mind will be filled with good thoughts.
5. Replace the Bad Habit with Good Habit: when your clear a piece of land and leave it fallow. After a while, unwanted weeds will grow on it. So it’s important you replace the bad habit with a good one. Looking for a good habit to substitute the bad one is a key step in breaking bad habit.
6. Be Patient and Persistence: it takes time to break a bad habit. In fact psychologists believe it could take as long as six month to a year to break some habit. Be patient and never give up. Just like Ralph Whaldo Emerson said, “That which we persist in doing becomes easier-not that the nature of the task has changed, but our ability to do has increased.”
7. Let your Family and Close Associates Know What You Want to Do and Ask Them to Help you:
this will inspire commitment and help you to be accountable. Tell them to watch your progress and do all they can to help.

More importantly, you need to seek God’s help in prayer too. Because some bad habits are usually influence by some unseen powerful forces; only prayer to God can break them. If you need special counsel, please feel free to contact me.

THE POWER OF SELF-DISCIPLINE III

Week 39

THE POWER OF SELF-DISCIPLINE III

“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments.”
~ Olusegun Samson G.

It is just impossible to achieve anything without discipline. This is why its importance can never be over emphasis. You have to take the pain of self-discipline, so as to be relief of some pains in life.

If you don’t do that thing you love to do the most, you will not die. Why not deny yourself of the pleasure of it to do something that moves you in the direction of your purpose or most important goal at the moment. Always remember this; the more discipline we become, the faster we go in life.

This week I want to share with us 7 Essential Guides to Developing Self-Discipline. But before then, please lay the following to heart:
- Be discipline to develop the right attitude because it open’s the door of possibilities.
- Place high value on your priorities, they help you to stay focus.
- Never joke with your health, it gives you strength.
- Let your family be important to you, there is no stability outside it.
- Positive thinking gives you an advantage; value it.
- Place worth on your values; they help you gain direction.
- Value your growth; it unveils your potential.
- Keep quality relationship, it brings fulfillment.
- Do all you can to please God, for so shall you find peace.
- Value generosity; it gives your significance.

The 7 Essential Guides to Developing Self-Discipline.
1. Discover your Purpose: the sense of purpose always reduce ones struggle with living a disciplined life. So the first thing is not to try and force yourself to be more disciplined at doing what you don’t really want to do. But, instead, you need to go inward and build more clarity around who you are and why you are here; when you do that, you move from try to be to wanting to be disciplined.
2. Find Someone you can be Accountable to: we don’t discipline ourselves to do what we need to do at time, because we feel who will hold us responsible for it. There is a special commitment that comes with telling someone or a group, what you intend to do. Because if you don’t do it, you will not only fail yourself but others too. So you find yourself doing it anyway.
3. Examine the Impact of Failing: when you have the mind of, “I can’t afford to fail in life,” you will be willing to pay the price of success no matter how expensive it may be.
4. Develop Passion for your Purpose: we hardly pay sacrifice for what we are not passionate about. Passion will push you to do things that are not convenient and take difficult steps happily.
5. Get Inspiration from Ordinary People who Did Extra-ordinary Things: what seem too hard for you to achieve had been achieved by some people in the past; some of them are not as privilege as you are. If they can, you can.
6. Be Determine not to Stop Yourself: be hard on yourself; we are our worst enemy of success.
7. Walk with Discipline People: Wise King Solomon said, “He who walk’s with the wise shall be wise.” Remember, the companies you keep determine what accompanies you.

Self-discipline may be hard, but trust me; the result is priceless.

THE POWER OF SELF-DISCIPLINE II

Success Digest
with Olusegun Samson G.

Week 38

THE POWER OF SELF-DISCIPLINE II

“Everyone must choose one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.”
~ Jim Rohn.

It is much easier to control a city than to control oneself. We identify too soon the weakness and faults of others and are often blinded to our own. We set high standard for other, but could not do anything for ourselves because we lack self discipline and have not gain mastery over ourselves. We say like Paul of old, “the things that I do not want to do I found myself doing and that which I need to do, I do not” until you gain mastery over your life you cannot achieve anything of note in life. You need to learn to master and control your emotions, appetites and inclinations, because only then can success be made possible.

Our world today is so full of distractions; it will only take a disciplined mind to achieve anything worth while. There are several new captivating games, more interesting videos, season films, hang out and nice joints, free sex, lustful materials everywhere, so many social media platforms, mind blowing television programs, ‘just for fun’ events here and there and host of others, seriously working very hard to make it difficult for us to maximize our potentials. So the fact remains that you can never be at your best until you develop the capacity to delay gratification.

One of the most essential keys to a tomorrow void of regret is living a life of self-discipline today. See, some of the pressure that is been mounted upon our life today are as a result of some pleasure we could not deny ourselves of yesterday; and the history will repeat itself if we choose not to do otherwise. My golden advices for you are:
• Love not long sleeps; too much sleep does not only make neck pain you but also makes you poorer. Be disciplined!
• Run from premarital and extramarital sex; they gratify the body but are deadly poison to the soul. Be disciplined!
• Avoid over eating; too much food don’t just cause constipation, it makes you lazy and of less useful to yourself. Be disciplined!
• Save a portion (at least one tenth) of your income/earning; you don’t get rich by just earning more but by saving more. Never spend it all. Be disciplined!
• Watch less of television and movies; those who make news don’t watch news. Be disciplined!
• Never waste time; time wasted is a life wasted. To be at your best you need to use your time well. Be discipline!
• Be careful what you expose your eye to; people most often do what they see. Be discipline!
• Spend quality time in prayer; those who don’t pray are always the prey of the wicked. Be disciplined!
• Spend quality time to read daily; you will never be better that your level of knowledge will allowed. Be disciplined!
• Do regular exercise; it is one of the fundamentals of healthy living. Be disciplined!
• Never beat a woman; it makes you less human. Be disciplined!

Still to come; 7 Essential Guides to Developing Self-Discipline. Watch out for Power of Self-Discipline III.

THE POWER OF SELF-DISCIPLINE

Week 37

THE POWER OF SELF-DISCIPLINE

I have come to discover through life experiences that nothing is impossible or unachievable if only one could be disciplined enough.
~ Olusegun Samson G.

Success is not gotten on the platter of gold. It usually comes through high level of diligence and hard work. A man of success works while others are sleeping, read and research while others are clubbing. It goings without saying; ‘nothing good comes easy.’ This is why, self-discipline is a vital key that unlock success and the master key which open the door of possibilities.

Many a time people search eagerly for quick and cheap success only to wake up ten years after and discovered they have been after shadow. There are hundreds of principles of success but without discipline none of them will work. I have come to realize that everyone wants success, and even in most cases, knows what need done to achieve it. But what makes the difference is whether we do it or not. Doing what we need to do to succeed requires self- discipline. So the one quality which set apart men of great accomplishments and failures in life is not formal education, talent, money nor intelligence but self-discipline. To succeed, you don’t

just do what you feel like but what you need to do. Just as one of American foremost writer Elbert Hubbard said: “self- discipline is the ability to do what you should do, when you should do it, whether you feel like or not.” If you are waiting till you feel like doing something before you get started, you might have to wait till eternity. Publishing on weekly bases this post you are reading now is not an easy task. There were several times I don’t feel like writing anything; in fact naturally I don’t like writing. But I had to discipline myself to write so as to fulfill my purpose to inspire hundreds of thousand across the globe to maximize their potentials. So, the rule is, do it anyway; feel like or not.

I don’t know what your dream(s) are or what it is, you hope to achieve; it time you start working towards accomplishing it; No more excuses! Find out all you need to do to accomplish your dreams in life and write them out. Then discipline your self to start doing them from now; you will be amaze how far you will go. If you are already working on it, discipline yourself to do more and move farther in it. Passion will get you started in your quest for success in life, but self-discipline is very essential to accomplish it.

Tremendous power lies in self- discipline. Make a commitment today to live a disciplined life and you will find yourself on the path of unlimited greatness.

Next week I would be sharing with you, some important guides to developing self-discipline. Still then, be well!

TODAY MATTERS II

Success Digest
with Olusegun Samson G.

Week 36

TODAY MATTERS II

Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.
~ Buddha

Today is only one day in all the days we will ever see, but what we do today will determine what will happen in all the other days. So everyday offers you a chance to change your life.

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway.

The peasant learned what many of us never understand! Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition. You would never be able to see the opportunities today got to offer, if you haven’t made up your mind to make it count. Do something today that your future self will thank you for.
Let me show you 7 key things you need to do on daily bases to have a fulfilling life.

7 Things You Should Do Daily

1) See the Day as your Chance to Make Things Right,/b>: it doesn’t matter who you used to be, what matters is who you are today. Start living the way you feel it’s right to live, get more closer to God, put new effort towards achieving your dreams, stop a bad habit ; just do something that is good.
2) Never Leave for Tomorrow what could be Done Today: it may sound trite, but today is all you have. You can depend on tomorrow because it is not within your power.
3) Have a Plan of How You want to Spend your Day: the only way to be in control of your time is planning your day. Put on paper when you wake up what you want to achieve for the day, work on your plan and you will experience a highly fulfilling day.
4) Read for at Least an Hour Daily: you can never be better than your level of knowledge will allow. Someone said, “You are either studious or stupid in life.” You can not be known if you don’t know; knowledge is a principal thing.
5) Do Something that will Enhances your Dream(s) in Life: do you have a dream? You are a day closer to it today. Turn those dreams into reality by acting on them daily. Ask yourself daily, “what do I need to do today that will take me further in pursuit of my dream(s).
6) Put Smile on the Face of Someone: happiness is a seed. When you make others happy, you open for yourself also doors of happiness. To stay happy and smiling, sow the seed by making someone smile. Help a needy, or make a love one feel very important or cared for; do something t

g your eyes to see opportunities around you need to exploit for a major turn around in your life.

TODAY MATTERS

Success Digest
with Olusegun Samson G.

Week 35

TODAY MATTERS

“Today offers the keys to two doors; one to a shameful tomorrow and the other to a glorious tomorrow. To open the later you must make today counts.”
~Olusegun Samson

The reason why today seems not to be like what we wanted to see is because we have successfully pile up too many empty yesterday. Often time we say to ourselves; ‘Tomorrow, I would start that,’ ‘I would become serious with the project tomorrow,’ I’ll go to that place tomorrow’ and so on. Then we wonder why our life seems not to make appreciable progress. If your life must be meaningful, you need to make the most of each day you are privilege to see.

Almost all of us too often underestimate what today really could offer. I learnt to do otherwise in a hard way. Sometimes ago, I came across an amazing financial freedom secret of keeping to oneself no matter what a portion of one earnings or income (at least one-tenth) and then invest them when substantial enough to do so. I said to myself; ‘what I’m earning today is too small, I will start saving tomorrow when I earn more.’ As days, months and years pass by; it becomes more difficult for me to save even while I was earning more.

But something happen one day that causes a paradigm shift in my mind. An opportunity came for me to acquire a very good property at usually very low price. I couldn’t afford it; since I have a poor savings. Effort to raise the money else where was also abortive. So I lost that golden opportunity; opportunity is an inpatient goddess, you know! She leave’s quickly those who meet her unprepared.

Then it occurs to me that if I had been saving at least one-tenth of my income since that day I learnt about it; I would have been able to afford to buy four or more of that property conveniently. Today matters!
My eyes became open to opportunities that are lost today because of one inability to make the most of yesterday’s potential. Today is very important and you need to make it count for a better tomorrow to come.

When you see a man still struggling to make hands meet at his old age, be sure he must had pile up for himself too many empty yesterday. Today’s emptiness is tomorrow’s pain. Never leave for tomorrow what could be done today.
You need to get started with that project, it’s time you take that decision, go for that exam, get serious with that relationship, start doing those things you plan to do to be fulfilled in life. Remember, today is the tomorrow you spoke of yesterday.

One of the secrets to a successful life, is maximizing the God’s given potentials made available for you per time. Be productive today; see each day as your opportunity to make things right and build a tomorrow devoid of regrets.
Say to yourself over and over again, “Today matters” and make the most of it. The ticket to that glorious tomorrow you seek is today; don’t throw it away carelessly.

Next week I will be showing you step by step, what you need to do to maximize today

to birth the tomorrow you can ever dream of. I am sure you don’t want to miss it. Please don’t forget to share this post with your friends on various social media platforms.

SEED TIME

Success Digest
with Olusegun Samson G.

Week 15/16

SEED TIME

Every farmer is always happy during the harvest period. But what will sustain that happiness is their ability not to eat or sell their seeds with the other crops during this period. So many people achieve success at one point or the other in life, but very few remain successful. If you understand the mystery of the “seed time” you will find maintaining and achieving greater success easy. This is because the secret of success in anything lies in your understanding of seed time. You will not be term successful by the largeness of your harvest, but by the quantity and quality of the seeds you plant. If you want to be among the few who never know a better yesterday, you need to take this subject more serious.

There are key things you need to know, which I will be throwing more light into, such as; what is seed, what is seed time, how to identify the seed time, what are the important seeds you need to plant in life and how to plant your seeds.

What is a Seed?

Seed according to the dictionary is the initial state, condition or position of a changing, growing or developing process; the ultimate precursor in a defined chain of precursors. So everything started as a seed, including you and I. Whatever is capable of growing, d

eveloping and reproducing itself is a seed; including those ideas in your mind.
It is important to note that some seeds grow on their own, this calls for you to constantly check your life if it is producing the kind of fruits you want. If not please do some weeding.

What is Seed Time?

Seed time is refer to as the favourable period to plant seeds. To succeed you need to learn to turn every period into a favourable time to plant your seeds. Wise King Solomon said, “In the morning sow your seed, in the evening with hold not from sowing…” Achievers don’t wait for a favourable time; every time is seed time. Your future is not secure by the harvests you get in life, but by the seed you plant. So plant seed as many time as you have opportunities to.

How to Identify Your Seed Time

- Scarcity: You need to sow seed when what you have is not enough. Scarcity is an indicator for seed time. If you fail to plant in your days of scarcity, you will never be able to witness the days of abundance. It is folly to wait till you have more before you plant, because you might have to wait for ever. I think this could be the theory behind why the poor get poorer and the rich gets richer. See, if you eat everything in your days of scarcity you may remain poor and always looking up to others to survive in life. Seed time could require lot of sacrifices and could be painful, but you have to pass through it to enjoy the fulfillment of the harvest.
- Abundance: Every abundance you fail to manage, will sooner or later leads to scarcity. So abundance is another sign of seed time. No matter how large your harvest is, it will definitely finish one day. It can only be reproduce by planting of seeds. This is why Robert Louise Stevenson is right when he said, “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that you plant.”

What are the Important Seeds You Need to Plant

Let me bring to your remembrance here that life is all about sowing and reaping. Today is a product of our yesterday and tomorrow is going to be a direct production of what we are doing today. This means that, today is a seed that will produce tomorrow. You can see that tomorrow of your dream if only you can be more careful with you actions, thoughts, and decisions today; these three will either make or mar your tomorrow. Beware!
There three important seeds will all need to plant to harvest a desirable tomorrow. The below shows us those seeds and where to plant them;

- TIME:you need to sow your time into the following i.Education and learning (you will always be stupid in life if you’re not studious)ii. Building of quality relationship (there is a relationship between who you know and what associates with you.) iii. Career/Business (building a successful business or career takes time; give it.) Your health (Health is wealth, they say.) iv. Your family (only God should be more important than your family, please sow some time into it.) v.Financial Education (financial intelligence is key to financial freedom. )vi.Developing relationship with God (it is difficult to win the battles of life without God.)

- MONEY :sow your money into the following i. Education and learning (Plant the seeds of money into education; you can only improving your earning power by improving your learning power). ii. Trainings (training always precedes reigning. You know!) iii.Books (the money you can’t spend on books should not be spent on clothing). iv.Assets ( I like real estate). v.Giving (Pay your tithes and give freely to the poor and less privilege if you want to be more successful.) vi. Family ( your spouse and children deserve a comfortable life ) vii. Your dreams (accomplishment of dream needs some financial commitments; please give it.)

- ENERGY: plant you energy in the following i. Working for God (the best way to preserve your energy is by giving it to God.) ii. Training your children (if you don’t train them well today, they will curse you tomorrow.) iii. Making positive impact in the live of other (life is about impact; we love to remember you for good.) iv. Achieving your desired success in life (you really need to sow some energy into that.) v. Exercises (even the holy book says it is profiting.)

How You Should Plant Your Seeds

Plant your seed generously and diligently. If you have two hour with your family, make it worth while, you don’t just sit down and watch them; you relate, learn something together, do some heart to heart talk e.t.c. This is important because you don’t plant seeds anyhow. Diligence is vital, do it right.

This is your seed time, why not plant some seeds of time, money and energy today into things that directly affect your future such as education, family, business, e.t.c. Success unlimited is what you get when you explore the power of seed time.
I pray that the dew of heaven fall on all the good seed you have sown in life.

Some of us, fear keep us focus on the past and worried about the future. Fear is certainly one of our most influential but highly ignored enemy of progress and accomplishment of goals. And the truth is no one is immune against fear, but what makes the different is our ability to overcome it when it comes.
As Nelson Mandela points out, the brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

I have my own fair share of fear and it has stop me on several occasion from; taking important steps, making vital call, making key decisions and so on, until I learn how to handle it.
When I caught the idea of the Annual National Success Summit, after consultations, researches and some calculations; my body temperature rises to about 60οC out of fear, going through my findings and what it takes to host the summit. I became more afraid when my team experiences some disappointment. To be sincere, my fears almost succeeded in stopping me; attempted canceling the summit more than three times. I had to fight my fears and eventually suppress them. The summit was successful and turns out to be one of my greatest accomplishments. What if my fear had stopped me again, all those life that has been impacted would not have been reached. What I have come to learn from my experiences with fear is that, you can’t be successful if you can’t conquer fear. Never, ever give in to fear. “He who is not conquering fear everyday” said R. W. Emerson “has not learned the secret of life.” Let’s quickly look at seven powerful ways to conquer fear.

7

Powerful Ways To Conquer Fear

1. Acknowledge: You need to acknowledge the fact that your fears are causing havoc. If you feel its normal you might never be able to get over it.

2. Investigate: Get specific, what are you really afraid of and why; look inward. Remember, you can not conquer an enemy you don’t know.

3. Dethrone Security: Many go into wrong marriage, put up with jobs they hate, live in places they are not comfortable with and so on, just to feel secure. If you must conquer fear, you need to place more value on courage to do what you have to do to succeed. Helen Keller rightly observed, “Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. The fearful are caught as often as the bold.”

4. Eliminate Negative Belief: That some fail at it, doesn’t mean you will. It can work for you even if it has never work for anyone before. Learn to program the right thought into your mind. Your negative thought is just a perspective; don’t let it fertilize your fear. Reading good books that that specifically addresses your needs is also a very wise decision.

5. Talk: Your greatest fear has once been conquered by someone; find such a one. For example, you want to go into business and you are afraid, successful businessmen where once in your ‘shoe.’ Talking about your fear with them will help a great deal. And most importantly talk to God about it in prayer; some abnormal cases of fear, requires divine intervention.

6. Think of the Worst Thing that could Happen: Each time I use this method, I will say to myself at least I’m not going to die, so I just do it. Instead of allowing fear to stop you go for the worst; you will survive it and your fear will disappear.

7. Expose Yourself to the Fear: You can never overcome fear by avoiding it. The more you expose yourself to fear, the more courageous you become. You need to confront your fear. Just as Jeanette Coron said, “Courage is not the absence of fear, it’s to feel the fear and face it anyway.” If something terrifies you, until you do it, you will never realize what you’re capable of.

Believe me you have a lot of potential within you and what it takes to rule your world but fears has been preventing you from unleashing them. That story is changing from today. Courage to face the future and accomplish greater things is release upon you now in Jesus name.

Week 12/13

THE FIVE Ps OF SUCCESS V

I woke up this morning with a very strong burden in my heart to pray for Nigeria. You will agree with me considering all that is happening in the nation that there is need for divine intervention. It has never been this worst and we need to cry to God for help. I will encourage my friends from other countries to please join us in praying for this nation too. We are going to be praying together; please for just a moment, leave whatever you are doing and let us pray. Preferably you can get a partner and if you are a CEO, your staff could join you. We are going to pray with the whole of our heart three simple prayers:
1. We are helpless as a Nation, and men has failed us, God we turn to you today, help us we pray Thee.
2. Every enemy of Nigeria, receive the judgment of God today, irrespective of your age or status.
3. Lastly, we will pray a two in one pray; O God of creation, remove by your power every individuals with old or death brains in the affair of Government at all levels (local, state and federal). God, in your infinity mercy raise for us selfless leaders in Nigeria. (Amen)

It’s well with Nigeria and all that seek her good shall prosper. You can write out those prayer points; pray with your family and it could also be raise at our various place of worship. God bless you as you do so and God blessed Nigeria.
I want to encourage us to keep hope alive, Nigeria will survive and our dear nation will be great. Always think of what you can contribute to the nation, let each of us, Government, Capitalist and every citizen talk less (we talk too much this days) and take some action steps that will move Nigeria forward. Remember, in Nation Building, everybody is import and has a role to play, including a child. Start playing your role today; read my post on “Values That Transform Nations” to find out how.

This week, we will be looking at the last P of Success under this series. I’ve have received load of mails and words of appreciation from different part of the world on the Five Ps of Success for the first four Ps that had been shared. And it a great joy for that my blog is inspiring people from time to time to accomplish their dream(s) and be more successful, because that’s the purpose for which it was created. The Fifth P of Success is “People Skills.”

PEOPLE SKILLs- the Fifth P of Success

Developing people’s skill is vital to achieving success in anything. You will never be able to rise above what the level of your people’s skill will allow. John Maxwell, leadership expert and author rightly observed, “If you have not learned to get along with people, you will always be fighting a battle to succeed.” When you develop people skills, it will take you further by far than any other skills you develop. I’m yet to see any self made individual and just as Melinda Gate once stated, “If you are successful, it is because someone gave you a life or an idea that started you off in the right direction.” We will always need the help of people at one point or the other to move further in life. This is why you need to learn to build healthy relationship with people.

A certain organization was conducting an election for the appointment of a new president sometimes ago. Two of the management staff who were the main contestants for the position were having a tie after the vote had been counted. This created a need for one of the drivers to cast the ‘golden vote’ and at that point everyone believe one of the contestants, a woman very strict and principled will loose out. But to the amazement of all, the driver ca
stes the golden vote for her. What happen is this; unknown to them, she has been showing noting but kindness to the driver. Each time he drive her around, she will insist on stopping by at the driver house and give money and gifts to his wife and children, which always help the low salary earner to maintain his family and the driver had always look forward for an opportunity to repay her kindness. The woman never at any point imagine it that the driver (small rat) could ever help her (big lion) one day. There is no limit to how far developing people skills can take you.

Always remember, it will always be difficult to get a head in life, if you can’t get alone with people. You can’t do it alone, you need people and they will not just come to you, you will have to attract them. There are several people skills that one can develop, but I will only share with us five fundamental ones. Develop them and you will always enjoy the help of others.

5 Very Important People Skills You Must Develop To Succeed

1. Leadership Skill : leaders do not just show the way but go the way. You often hear a leader says “Let us go, do…” not “You go, do…” This qualities or personal involvement/comment to things will not only attract people to them, but also multiply them. Develop your leadership skill and you will be a people person. You can read my post on “How To Become An Exceptional Leader.” to learn more.

2. Strong Communication Skill : this is very important as it is the life of every relationship. Ensure you get in touch with people that matters to you at least once in a week. You don’t call people only when you need them, or you will be driving them a way from you. And please learn to say the truth at all cost. Relationship built on lie is like a house built on sand, it will not last. It is also important to note that, you can never be a good communicator if you don’t know how to listen. To be a good listen and get along with people, you need to hear; what people say and want you to hear (verbal communication), what they say and do not want you to hear (semi verbal) and what they didn’t say but want you to hear (non verbal).

3. Ability to Appreciate Others : you don’t just appreciate people when they do you a favour, but also when they did something impressive, achieve something or even looks good. Everyone wants to be appreciated; we all naturally move closer to those who appreciate us. Appreciate others and they will not only love you but will be willing to help you to a fault. Mary Kay wisely stated, “Everyone want to feel appreciated, so if you appreciate someone or something, don’t keep it a secret.”

4. Knowing How to Forgive : people will always hurt and offend you, because they are limited, not perfect and human. You need to learn to forgive at all time. No matter how hurt you might be feeling, trust me it pays to forgive. Like my people do say, “The one, who did what pain you today, might do that which will pay you tomorrow.” Give people not just second chance, but third, fourth or maybe tenth… forgiveness is important to get along with people.

5. Living by the Golden Rule : there are several people skills one need to develop, but if you can successfully live by the "golden rule", you are as good as developing almost all the other skills. The "golden rule" is simply doing unto others what you want them to do to you or in other words, treat others the way you love to be treated. Don’t give what you can not take. You love to be respected, respect others. You want people to be honest with you, be honest. You like to see people support you, genuinely support others. Be to others all you want them to be to you. If we could all live by the “golden rule” imagine how wonderful our world would be. When we practice the golden rule, we will value and support other, we will offer genius help and be honest in all our dealings. The best way to be a people person is live by the “golden rule.”

Do all you can to get along with people and away remember you will never be able to go far if you are alone.
It is your season of divine turn around, stay focus and be positive.

THE FIVE Ps OF SUCCESS IV

Success Digest
with Olusegun Samson G.

Week 11

THE FIVE Ps OF SUCCESS IV

*An uncle of R. U. Darby was caught by the “gold fever” in the gold-rush days, and went west to dig and grow rich. He had never heard that more gold has been mined from the thoughts of men than has ever been taken from the earth. He staked a claim and went to work with pick and shovel.
After weeks of labour, he was rewarded by the discovery of the shining ore. He needed machinery to bring the ore to surface. Quietly, he covered up the mine, retraced his footsteps to his home in Williamsburg, Maryland, told his relatives and a few neighbours of the “strike.” They got together money for the needed machinery, and had it shipped. The uncle and Darby went back to work the mine.

The first car of ore was mined and shipped to a smelter. The returns proved they had one of the richest mines in Colorado! A few more cars of that ore would clear the debts. Then would come the big killing in profits.
Down went the drills! Up went the hopes of Darby and Uncle! Then something happened. The vein of the gold ore disappeared! They had come to the end of the rainbow, and the pot of gold was no longer there. They drilled on, desperately trying to pick up the vein again—all to no avail.
Finally, they decided to quit.

They sold the machinery to a junk man for a few hundred dollars, and took the train back home. The junk man called in a mining engineer to look at the mine and do a little calculating. The engineer advised that the project had failed because the owners were not familiar with “fault lines.” His calculations showed that the vein would be found just three feet from where the Darbys had stopped drilling! That is exactly where it was found! The junk man took millions of dollars in ore from the mine.

If you were one of the Darbys, what would you have done, haven discovered you stopped just three feet from the gold? How many projects have you abandon because you encountered some challenges. How many times have you given up on something or are you at the verge of giving up right now; think again, you might just be three feet away from your ‘gold’. There is nothing that is impossible for you to achieve, if you can learn not to ever give up. Everyone who had ever achieved any thing great or become successful in life, from Henry Ford to Winston Churchill, Thomas Edison, Jim Carrey, Colonel Sander, Oprah Winfrey, Abraham Lincoln, Wole Soyinka, Albert Einstein and host of others do so because they never gave up. This will be leading us to the next P of success – PERSISTENCE.

Persistence – The Fourth P of Success

Ordinary men can achieve extra-ordinary things if they can be persistent in their quest(s). Just as Buddha said, “In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins—not of strength, but through persistence. Persistence is very vital in achieving success in any thing. You will always found some challenges and failure on your way to accomplishing your dream(s). The only way you can stop those challenges from stopping you is by not giving up, no matter what. Because, Your problem quits, when you refuse to quit.
It is very natural to think of quitting when at some difficult situations, but you need to learn to hang on, if you want to succeed or accomplish anything in life. Let me give you some tips that will help you to be more persistence in any thing.

Helpful Tips

1. Know What You Want : you will never be able to be persistence if you are indecisive; you are into something today and tomorrow another thing entirely. So the first step to persistence is having a definite purpose. Decide at once what you really want and go all out for it.

2. Develop a Strong Desire to Succeed : Strong desire forces one to surmount many difficulties. Whatever you wish to accomplish, develop a strong desire for success in it. The more badly you want it, the more difficult it becomes for you to give up on it.

3. Belief in Yourself : Abraham Lincoln wisely stated, “That someone achieve great thing is a proof to all that others can achieve it as well.” If others can, you can; believe in yourself. We give up so easily most time because we lost faith in ourselves. Reassure yourself over and over again that you can do it and you will.

4. Be Discipline : Discipline, said Jim Rohn “is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” If discipline is lacking in your quest for success, sooner or later your dream(s) will get stock in the “someday” Island and finally you give up. Do what you have to do at the right time, convenient or not. You can never be persistence without discipline.

5. Acquire the Right Knowledge : Very few thing will make a man quit so easily like ignorance. You will always struggle to be persistence if you are doing a guess work. Get accurate knowledge on what you are doing, and you will not only find it easier to do, but also difficult to give up on it.

6. Look for Men of Like Passion : I’m surrounded by amazing set of people who are focus and goal oriented. Their life has been a motivation to me; the passion with which they go about their dream always inspire me not to give up on anything. A wise man once said, “If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go in two. The right associate promotes persistence; you need to find one.

7. Try to Move Some Hills Before the Mountains : Your persistence power can be increased, and results are a very strong motivation for that to happen. Start with small goals, face the challenges and accomplish them. Accomplishing them sends a positive signal to your subconscious mind, which will help increase your will power. So when you are face with bigger challenges in your pursuit of greater goals, you will most likely not give up.

If you try something and it fails or seem as if it not working, try again, again and again, keep doing it, don’t stop trying until it is working. Show me a man that is not persistence in his ways and I will show you a man that can not be successful in anything. Never give up, hang on, you might be only three feet away from your “gold.”

THE FIVE Ps OF SUCCESS III

Success Digest
with Olusegun Samson G.

Week 9

THE FIVE Ps OF SUCCESS III

This week, we will be looking at another vital P of success; when you have this P, you become unstoppable, not even the threat of death will be strong enough to put you off your dream(s). You want to know what it is. Not to worry, we will get to that shortly. Before then, let me point out clearly that,

the longest route to success is short cuts. This is so because there are no true short cuts to success. Real success don’t come cheaply; the greater the success the greater the price to be paid. So many people have been infected this days with what I call the, “makes it quick and anyhow” fever. They want to make it now; they don’t care how it will happen or what it will cause them, in extreme cases they are even ready to kill. At initial stage of this infection it will look as if all is well and then get worst with time. This fever has destroyed many visions and claims the life of thousands. Beware! Mark my words, success that is achieved in an hurry will go in an hurry, because you will lack the power to maintain it. The power to maintain success are gotten from the experience that come with following the necessary process and paying the due price. B. C. Forbes, the founder of Forbes magazine wisely stated, “A price has to be paid for success. Almost invariably those who have reach the summits worked harder and longer, studied and planned more assiduously, practiced more self-denial, overcome more difficulties than those of us who have not risen so far.”

The Rabbit one day met the Snail on the road and ridiculously asked the slow animal, “are you sure you can get to your destination with this way you are working?” The snail smile and reply, “ If only you know where I was coming from, you will not be asking if I can get to where I’m going.” You might not be where you want to be. But the truth is, you are not where you use to be. Never seek a short cut, follow due process ( plan, work diligently, be discipline, study hard, go for training, learn leadership, build healthy relationships, and so on); if you can come this far, you will get there. Don’t be intimidated by the success of your peers, but rather let them inspire you to succeed too. They might be saying all sort of things about you now, don’t worry they will all celebrate you when you succeed. I strongly believe you will.
Personally I’m still far from where I’m going, but taking short cuts is never going to be an option. It a question of time I will get there; a time is coming, not far from now that it will be difficult for even a governor to be able to secure my attention. You will achieve your dreams too, you will attain that height you envisions, it might seems far away, you will get there; be patient, consistent and never, never seek short cuts. Remember, there are no short cuts to any place worth going. The next P of Success we will be looking at is, ‘PASSION.’

PASSION – The Third P of Success

The road to success is lined with many, obstacles, discouragement, failure and other challenges, but if you have passion all those will not be able to stop you. This is why passion is a vital ‘P’ of success. No matter how great the obstacles may be, your passion will keep you going. Determination without passion always leads to frustration. Almost nothing great has ever been accomplished without passion. After several failed attempt, it is only passion for success that must have kept Thomas Edison going. Think of Nelson Mandela; he was so passionate about his fight against Apartheid in South Africa that he was willing to die for it. Little wonder why he succeeded at it. He once publicly said, “I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and achieve. But if need be, it is a ideal for which I am prepared to die.” Show me a successful man and I will show you a man full of passion for a definite course. Passion is very important, whatever you want to achieve in life be passionate about it, as it will give you the energy that will keep you going.

John C. Maxwell, leadership expert once said, “Passion is the fuel for will—If you want something badly enough, you will find the will power to achieve it and you won’t stop trying until you do,” Let me give you some tips that would help you develop your passion.

Helpful Tips

- Act it Out: Just like Jean-Paul Sartre said, “We must act out passion before we can feel it.” Put in more energy into whatever you are doing than is required, put your mind, body and soul into it and you will feel the passion. There is no limit to how passionate we could become about achieving our dream, but we need to put in deliberate efforts.

- Look for Men of Like Passion: Passion is contagious; one of the ways to develop your passion for what you do is to associate yourself with people of great passion. If you have ever watch football match live at the stadium, you will understand how contagious passion could be; even if you don’t too like football, the passion of others will help you develop one for it too. Look for those who are very passion about what they do; your association with them will help you develop your passion.

- Dare Great Things: Nelson Mandela wisely observed, “There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” You can never develop your passion if you choose to settle for an average life. The greater things you want to achieve, the more challenges you have to face and the more passionate you become. Passion flows naturally when you pursuing a great course.

- Focus on the Fulfillment Accomplishing your Dreams will Bring: When your focus is on the crown, you will be passionate about going to the cross. Think of the lives that will be impacted and the glory that lies ahead of you and you will cheerfully face whatever challenges that may come the way of fulfilling your dream. Your passion will grow greatly, if you can shift focus for ‘now’ to the ‘after now.’

I will like you to meditate on the statement of Steve Job, the Apple’s boss as I conclude, “You have to be burning with an idea, or a problem, or a wrong that you want to right. If you’re not passionate enough from the start, you’ll never stick it out?”
Grow your passion and your obstacles will become invisible and you, unstoppable.

THE FIVE Ps OF SUCCESS II

Success Digest
with Olusegun Samson G.

Week 8

THE FIVE Ps OF SUCCESS II

This is not a funny period for most Nigerians and the masses are complaining bitterly. So I will like to address some National issues before we go into the Second ‘P’ of Success. Please, Mr. Raji Fashola, SAN, the honourable Minister of Power, can you explain to Nigerians the common sense in increasing electricity tariff without improving power supply; the light/power supply has worsen and at times we don’t even see it for days. Electricity Distribution Companies, it is a simple business sense that, ‘money answers to values;’ if you give us a more stable power supply we will gladly pay our bills not minding the increment in tariff.

Mr. President, we didn’t know that your promise of making N1 to equal $1 was ironical! This continuous fall of naira needs urgent and serious attention. Because it is making life difficult for so many Nigerians; even the fermented locus beans seller in the market will tell you that dollar is high, as this is becoming their anthem in the market place. I want to appeal to the government to call an emergency meeting of financial and economy gurus and let them come up with a sustainable solution to our economy challenges. Let’s work on how exchange rate will move to N50 per $1 by 2017. This is very possible if the government will come up with and implement the right policies, with a corresponding cooperation of all Nigerians.

The effort of this present administration to fight corruption is very laudable and a sign of a better Nigeria. But PMB, I would like to draw your attention to the old saying, ‘charity begins at home.’ To build more credibility in your fight again corruption, Senator Bukola Saraki needs to face the law as touching all those charges against me. Let EFCC probe Mr. Rotimi Amechi on the corrupt allegations against him by the people and government of his state and let all the corrupt individuals in the APC be invited too. Because one question Nigerians are asking is, ‘are all APC members corruption free?’ if no, let us see them be investigated too and those guilty brought to face the law.

Finally, before going into the Second P of Success, there is one deadly virus that is impeding the growth of our nation in all areas; from power failure to poor economy, bad infrastructure, unmotorable roads, falling educational standard, unsustainable development, name it. And the most painful thing is that most Nigerians are infected by the virus. Therefore, it becomes paramount for us to kill this virus and stop its further spread, if we want to move forward as a nation. This deadly virus I’m referring to is ‘Greediness.’ With no reserve apology, some greedy individuals are behind the slackness in the 2016 budget. Most manufacturers and business owners out of greediness produce and offer poor quality products and place high price on them. Politicians out of greediness, neglect their duty of serving people to seek dubious mean of making themselves and their children richer. Even some religious leaders has device various means of exploiting their member; greediness! People will be awarded contract and out of greediness will offer very poor services, so as to making more money. The fact is, greediness is become an epidemic in our society and we need to stop it. Let each and everyone of us be concern about our nation’s development and put the interest of others at heart in whatsoever we are doing or want to do; you don’t have to exploit people to be rich. If we can all go for the vaccine for this virus which is ‘Selflessness,’ our nation will rule the world. Nigeria has the potential to be the largest economy nation in the world, but we all need to come together and kick greediness out of our society. Let it be written everywhere; government house, churches, mosques, schools, offices, car stickers and every other place it could be seen, “SAY NO TO GREEDINESS” or “I HATE GREEDINESS,” and let’s teach our children to be selfless. Please let’s all take this to heart, ‘greatness is not about how much wealth you are able to accumulates for yourself, but rather your positive contribution to humanity and the legacy you lays.’

The next P of success we will be looking at this week is ‘PLANNING.” Every individual or organization that want to succeed need to have something on paper on what they want to accomplish per time; this is refer to as planning. Our plans direct our daily routine and the secret of every successful people is in their plans. The reason why many don't have plans for their life is because they are yet to discover their purpose; this is why Purpose is the first P of success. It’s when you know where you are going (purpose) that you begins to work on how you will get there (planning). So, behind every solid plan is a solid vision that is birth out of purpose. When you have plans, success becomes so cheap. Planning give you a sense of direction in life and it is difficult to make appreciable progress without it. Ask people who have ever achieved something remarkable in life and they will tell how long they’ve be planning for it. What’s your own plan and are you committed to it? Personally, I’ve benefited greatly from the power of planning, and it’s another thing every successful people have in common. Presently I have on paper 50years plan for my life, which makes me unstoppable. Why? Because our plan set us on motion and speed us to our destination. You can accomplish any thing in life if you can use well this second P of Success.

There are people who has plans but they fail. Some organizations and governments are even faced with the challenge of implementing their plans. So, let’s look briefly at some key steps to successful planning. Before then, let me state clearly that, ’when you lack the ability to plan ahead, you will find yourself preoccupied with immediate issues and loose sight of your purpose or ultimate goals.’ This is why most managers fail to achieved their organization objectives and most individuals their dreams. Planning help you stay focus and ultimately achieving your aim(s).

Key Steps to Successful Planning

1. Clear Goal(s): If you miss this first step, you can not get the other steps correctly. Your goal needs to be quantifiable, consistent, realistic and achievable. The goal should be specific with an ultimate time-based; for example to achieve sales of $4m in three years.

2. The Programs: This is the systematic layout of steps and actions that will lead to the actualization of the set goal(s). It should cover resources, objectives, time-scales, deadlines, budget, and performance target. Basically, the programs set out the implementation plan.

3. Implementation: Almost everybody is good at making plans but very few implement their plans. What usually happened is this; we come up with brilliant plans put them down, go to our place of work/office, we get overwhelmed with daily details. Soon it’s ‘business as usual,’ the plans sit on the shelf or table and before we know it, another year has passed. This need not happen. For successful implementation of your plans the following keys are non-negotiable;
- Ardent Commitment: you need to commit your time, resources, energy and intellect to it. Do some researches, attend seminars and workshop related to what you are working on and you could equally get some materials to read; by so doing you are putting into it, your intellectual commitment.
- Credibility: Your plan needs to be well documented and legacy oriented. Adherence to the complete process is non-negotiable and if you have a team that is working with you on the implementation of the plan, ensure there is a representative participation. If you do all this, you will not only create credibility for your plans, you will be sustaining it as well.
- Effective Communication: you need to ensure each person involved in the implementation of the plans can understand and hear you clearly; assumption can be very dangerous. Emphases and repeat key words and be passionate about the plan.
Ensure your personal commitment is 100%, no matter how good your team is, if you want a successful implementation of your plans. Don’t forget to review your plan from time to time and make appropriate adjustment.

I see you accomplishing those beautiful goals as you stay committed.

#keeps succeeding…

Please share and inspire others.

THE FIVE Ps OF SUCCESS

Success Digest
with Olusegun Samson G.

Week 7

THE FIVE Ps OF SUCCESS

Anybody can achieve success in anything, if the principle that guarantee success in such a thing are identified and followed. This is so because, principle are not respecter of any man. I was speaking to a group of teenagers some months back on success and I asked them, ‘if a beggar should jump from a five storey building, what will happen?’ They all echoed, ‘He will died or breaks his leg with several injury on his body.’ I responded ‘OK’ and asked further, what if a king jumps from that same storey building? ‘He will die or breaks his leg too.’ They all shouted. I paused for a while, silence was in the class and they all gaze at me with curiosity boldly written on their faces. Then I said to them, you believe their experience will be similar because they will be breaking the same principle (law of gravity). Which mean principles are not respecter of person. In a solemn manner I ask these young chaps, why then did you believe the lies that your background will affect your success in life and success is met for some selected few? If anybody can, you can; you only need to follow principles. To bring about a paradigm shift in them, I added, success is met for all; everyone you see that is successful today employ some set of principles. If you follow those same principles, it will produce for you the same result they got from it irrespective of your background or current state just as that principle of gravity affect the beggar and the king equally.

The principles of success are not hidden and yet few are they that are achieving success. This is so because many are not willing to follow the principles of success, most people just sit down and hope for a wonder to happen someday. If you want to be successful in anything, you don’t wait to see or watch thing happen; you make things happen. The five Ps of success will help you make things happen. These five Ps are universal and can be found common among every successful individual. The Five Ps of Success is going to take us five weeks to cover as we will be looking at one P per week. Make sure you don’t miss any of the series. This week I will be sharing with us the first P, ‘Purpose.’

PURPOSE - The First P of Success

When you lack purpose for a course or generally for life, you are like a man digging the ground, who when asked why he is digging the ground, sweating and breathing hard responded, ‘Nothing, I only want to be hard working.’ You will say, the man must be foolish or mad? If that is true, it means we have so many mad people with nice clothes roaming about our streets, they have no definite purpose they are pursuing in life; just busy for nothing. Going about life without purpose is a complete madness. Nothing is as frustrating as to be on the go without a goal. It is not how hard working you are that will makes you to be successful, but your pursuit of a definite purpose. Purpose is the strongest motivation for success; when you know and understand why something needs to be done, you don't need external motivation to get it done. CEOs and Business Owners, please note, it is very important you ensure your staff understand fully the purpose of you organization/establishment, as this will enhance productivity; when they understand ‘why’, it becomes easier for them to understand the ‘how.’ As no one who box the air will be champion, only those who are purpose driving will achieve success in their endeavour.

Seneca wisely observed, “To the person who does not know where he wants to go, there is no favourable wind.” It is difficult for someone without purpose in life to see an opportunity even if it’s right in front of him, because our purpose influences our vision.
Four persons pass by a mountain; a businessman, a mountaineer, a pastor and a simple man. The Businessman looks at it and saw a recreation center, an opportunity to build a financial fortune for himself. The Mountaineer saw an opportunity to make history by been the first person to climb it. The Pastor saw a praying ground. And the simple man saw nothing but a big mountain and move on. Life has lot of opportunities to offer but you will never be able to see them until you discover your purpose.

Take note, it is never too late for you to discover your purpose and do what you are here (on earth) to do, so never give up on yourself until you loose your last breath and have no more life in you. However, it is of the very best to discover your purpose on time; timely discovery is vital for striking accomplishment in life. Let me share with you three tips that will help you in purpose discovery.

- Develop Your Mental Capacity: Research has proved that we can never be better that the way we think. The good new is, we can control the way we think by engaging in things that will help channel our thought toward what we want. Two things influence the way we think; what we see and what we hear. This is why you must be careful of what you expose your eyes and ears to.
To develop your mental capacity you need to read wide, not just any book, but such that will inspires and educate you. The more you read, the more better you become, you get more brilliant ideas and develop your potentials. Books are a very good aid for purpose discovery, because they help activate some great things in your inside. After reading a good book, you will find yourself thinking better and wanting to achieve something great. The reason why some are yet to discover their purpose is ignorance; ignorance put one in darkness, that you hardly see anything. But when you go for knowledge, it’s like a man in darkness who reaches his hand to a touch and switch on the light, and can now see everything clearly.
If you want to discover your purpose, go for knowledge; read that book, attend that conference/training workshop, listen to that audio book/teaching, and do all you can to be well informed.

- Look for your work: We are all here (on earth) on assignment, which is met to finish only when we died. This assignment is your work and you need to find it. You need to ask yourself, what am I willing to do even if I’m not going to get paid for it and be so passionate about that only death could stop me from doing it? When you find it, you find your work. Your work is not for you self gain, but a contribution to humanity. We are all here to make our contribution, not to be a burden to others.
Our world is full of so many problem because most of us that have been destined to solve those problem are not doing our work, some are even yet to discover it. In between what you have passion for and what you hate the most to see happen to people or around you, lies the problem you are born to solve (your work). There are several problems in the society, which of them are you concern about the most, you hate to see it and wish you could do something about it? That could be a point to your work.
If all you seek is just a better life for yourself, it will be very difficult for you to find your work. But the more you think of how you could be of impact to your world and make life easier for others, the easier it become for you to find your work. Remember, when you find your work, you have discovered your purpose.

- Consult the Manufacturer: This is the most important step you need to take to discover your purpose, because no one knows a product better than the manufacturer. We are the product and God is the manufacturer, and He had a purpose in mind while creating each of us. So to get the most out of your life, you need to connect with God. Pray to God to open your eye and mind to His purpose for your life; He will surely answer you.

VALUES THAT TRANSFORM NATIONS II

WEEK 6

Values That Transform Nations II

Your values are the things that you believe are important in the way you live and work. They determine your priorities and define who you are. The way we react to things and our approach to live is influence by our value system. The values that transform nations, when embrace will not only make our nation better, it will equally help you to achieve outstanding success in your personal endeavours. Do go over the last publication again and set out plan on how you will develop those values that has been highlighted add to those we will be looking at shortly for personal effectiveness. Our nation is where it is today because most of us are less concern about her development and I want us to have a change of attitude. Don’t give up on the nation; show some concern, believe in things getting better, stay away from things that will pull her down. When you seek the good of your nation, you seek your own betterment, as well as that of your children and generation yet to come.

One question that’s in the heart of many all over the world is, ‘why is the poverty level of a blessed nation like Nigeria so high?’ Answers such as poor leadership, greediness of politicians, illiteracy, among others quickly come to mind on pondering on that question. It is time we all come together, putting aside our ethnic background and sing just one song; ‘Transformation’. Most of the fools that are in the affairs of government today who are ‘brain death’ and seek mainly things that appeal only to there selfish interest, will put themselves to order or even resign, if the masses will stop folding there arms and boldly challenge them. The power still belong to the people; president, governors and all other public office holder are not your lord, but are there to serve you, if they are not serving you well, fire them. I heard a governor speak few days ago and I shook my head, because he could only talk that way because people in this part of the world has not come to the consciousness of their power. Don’t be intimidated by any politician, fight for what is right and advocate for National Transformation. Now let’s quickly look at some more values and round it off for this week.

Values We Need To Embrace For National Transformation.

1. ORDERLINESS: If our life and our nation must be better, the need for order and symmetry is very essential. Edmund Burke wisely stated, “Good order is the foundation of all great things”. Disaster is not always far from where there is disorderliness. Most of those traffic and even accident on some of our roads could be averted if car owners would display orderliness. In whatsoever we do let’s ensure orderliness is in place for outstanding success to be recorded. Always remember that everything has a place and time. The truth is nothing,(including national transformation, family development, wealth creation etc) is practically achievable where there is no order.

2. SELFLESSNESS: The shortness route to greatness is selflessness. On till you think of what you can do for others, you might not be able to do anything for yourself. The corrosion of the value, ‘selflessness’ among political leaders and government officials have deteriorate our economy to a very large extent. If we will all embrace selflessness and seek the best for other, not just ourselves, this nation will be a paradise. Go and check the history, those who were truly great in life was those who were sold out to seek better life for others. Selflessness is a very important value that must be embrace by all for national transformation.

3. INTEGRITY: Many of us do what is right only when we are watched; who we are when no one is watching will tell if we have integrity or not. People with integrity only do what is right, not what is convenient. If our nation wishes to command more respect among other nations of the world, then we must all (both government and the people) develop the value of integrity. We all need to choose our thought and actions based on values rather than personal gain. Integrity is essential for both achieving one’s desired success in life and transforming the nation.

4. LOVE: this is a season of love and the best time to talk about love. Love is a relative term and means different thing to different people as it has several school of thought. Love is not just a feeling as generally believe by most people, it is a choice: you can love the person you hate the most in life, if you choose to do so. In other word, anyone can be loveable, it all depend on what you want. If you have ever been in a long relationship before, or you are married, you will agree with me that those feelings don’t last; after you have been together for awhile, seen each others weakness, and those things that use to be appealing no long do. The only thing that will keep the relationship going is your choice to love your partner or spouse. Several times I hear young people confess,” I don’t seem to love him/her any more”. What they are saying is that they no longer have feelings for that person. Feeling is never enough, so you need to choose to love your partner at all time. Our focus today is not on relationship, I will talk more on that when we are treating relationship, let’s go back to our subject, Values that Transform Nations. For us to live together as one, love need to dwell among us; progress is always retarded where there is no oneness. Let’s love one another, and be very passionate about our nation. It is very difficult to hurt intentionally someone you love. Those in the affair of government should show love for the people by offering selfless services and declining from doing things that will affect the masses negatively. Let the people equally show love for the government by been cooperative and praying constantly for them.

By a way of conclusion, let me point out clearly that, no matter the political manipulation, foreign influence etc, Nigeria will experience transformation; I can see it coming. If you think it is not going to be possible, please stay out of the way of those who believe it and are ready to commit themselves to see it happen. Nigeria is a great country by destiny; it’s only a question of time she will get to the fullness of her potential. so when you wake up in the morning ask yourself ,”what can I do to make my country better?” and when you want to go to bed ask; what have I contributed today to the building of my nation?
Nigeria will survive, Africa will be great!

VALUES THAT TRANSFORM NATIONS

WEEK 4

Values That Transform Nations

With the way things are in our nation today, there is a serious need for national transformation in our economy, governance, policy and others. And this transformation can't just be pray down; both citizens and government has roles to play to see it turns to a reality. What most people do is to sit back and blame the government for everything. And the truth is our day to day activities and actions even as individual is either destroying our nation or building it. More so, those in the affairs of government today are product of the society; the incumbent president of the country is raised in a family within a community, and the fact is the way of live of the people in such community will have an influence on his life style. The point I’m drive at is that, if we desire a better governance our society need to be better, and for our society to be better each of us as it member need to change for the better in both our way of thinking and bahaviour.

Every nation is define by the values it hold dear. As an advocate of national transformation, I have come to discover that, if our nation will be transformed, we need to redefine our values. There are values that transform nations, which must be adopted by government, citizens and inhabitants of this nation. Let’s consider some of them together:

Values We Need to Embrace for National Transformation

1. PUNCTUALITY : ‘Time is money’ they say. Any nation that does not place value on time will be loosing great resource on daily bases. We need to abolish ‘Africa time’ as it is drawing us back among other nations. Let everyone embrace punctuality and be frank with individuals who do otherwise.
In 1748, while advising a young Tradesman, Benjamen Frankline made this powerful statement, “Remember that time is money. He that can earn ten shillings a day by his labour, and goes abroad, or sits idle one half of that day, though he spends but sixpence during his diversion or idleness, it ought not to be reckoned the only expense: he hath really spent or thrown away five shillings besides.” It is very important we place more value on time; every single act of idleness has a negative effect on our economy. The government also needs to put in their every best to minimize traffic on our roads. Those minor road adjustments could be done at night when there will be fewer vehicles on the road, so as to ensure free movement during the day. It’s important for all to wake up early and do what needs to be done at the right time. Let’s be punctual to meetings, work, appointments e.t.c. Join me in my campaign against unpunctuality and together let’s say no to ‘Africa time.’

2. TRUTHFULNESS : Another core value of national transformation is truthfulness. Trust dose not exist where there is no truthfulness, there is no teamwork without trust and if we can not work together, we will not be able to progress. Where there is no truthfulness, exploitation will be the order of the day. The erosion of truthfulness in any nation will always inhibit development in such nation. Henry David Thoreau wisely stated, “Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.” For our nation to experience the transformation we seek, each of us (government and citizen alike) need to be truthful at all time, in business transactions, relationship, e.t.c.

3. EXCELLENT : Most Africa countries are lacking behind because of the absence of this core value, ‘Excellent.’ We need to strive for the best and put in our best in all we do. If you are a doctor, be a doctor per excellent, if you are an Engineer, strive for excellent; in whatever you do, be the best. Let those in the affairs of government offer our nation the best infrastructure, and social amenities; don’t give us just anything, give us the best or forget it. When you travel to well develop countries, the beauties you see there speaks of excellent and it could be replicated in our country too. We need to kill the ‘anything goes’ spirit in us and make commitment for ‘it’s the best or nothing else.’ Let our government wakeup to the fact that things are changing fast and technology is seriously advancing and put an excellent touch to whatever they are doing for the nation. We all need to come together to do something about the slip of standard in our society. Let’s replace mediocrity with excellent in our education, health facility, infrastructure, governance, e.t.c. Say no today, to ‘Good enough’ and embrace ‘Excellent.’ Our nation shall be transformed.

4. INNOVATION : I have not see a nation that kills innovation as ours. Our societies no longer encourage innovations, what we celebrate is fun and entertainment. So many programs are out there that offer millions of naira to some idle individuals who even lack character, just because they could sing and hundreds of innovations are wasting away; we seriously need to value innovations around there. The government or some industrialists could come up with a platform for people to showcase how innovative they are and sponsor the best innovations. This will inspire a lot of people in our nation to be innovative. Let’s be innovative in our thinking and seek how things could be done better in our various fields. Let there be a continuous search for new and better ideas in all sectors of the nation.

5. RESPECT : We need to respect ourselves, the rule of law and our nation in general. Let’s learn to show mutual respect for all. Distance yourself from anything that would affect the self esteem of anyone. Let bosses show mutual respect for the subordinates, parents for children, husbands for their wives and government for the people and vice versa. In an environment of respect, there is always sense of belonging and people find it very easy to team up to achieve set goal(s). Let’s have respect for our laws with no one been above the law. Let the same law which affect the poor and powerless also affect the rich and powerful; only then can our nation experience true transformation. Together let us work to build a culture of mutual respect in our nation. I charge all to sow a seed of respect today, so we could reap its fruits and our society will be better as abuse, rape and other social vices filters away.

National transformation requires the effort of all; start playing your part today. Watch out for the concluding part next week.
I see a new you emerging as you work to make this core values a part of you.
