Week 41

The Sense in Nonsense.

“Almost everything (including you) doesn’t make sense at first. But a man of understanding always draws sense from every senseless situation.”
~ Olusegun Samson G.

Just while Colonel Harland Sanders felt his life is no longer making sense, he caught an idea presumed by some at that time to be nonsense. But today, even a senseless person could see the sense in that idea.

Sanders at 65 was retired and broke with his life been far from a successful one. Sitting on a couch in front of his house in Corbin, Kentucky, a man walk up to him and handed him his first social security cheek. Looking at the cheek in his hand, said to himself, “the government is going to pay me 105dollars every month so I could etch out a life. There is definitely something I could do.”

Motivation working on him, thought for days what he could do. After several moment of thinking, an idea came to mind. He remembers his grandmother had a special way of frying chicken, and could also recollect how much they all love it. He packages his idea and started moving from one restaurant to the other with his special recipe looking for a potential franchisee. He was turned down by so many, but he never gave up.

Finally, he got his first customer and was offer a contract. He was getting a certain percentage for each of his sold chicken. In less than 7year, Sanders was fielding franchise requests steadily and had more than 600 restaurants across US and Canada selling his (Kentucky) Fried Chicken. And that was the beginning of Kentucky Fried Chicken, now popularly known as KFC; one of the world largest franchise.
At age 80, Colonel Sanders was a millionaire and a prominent personality in America and beyond.

So many of us had murdered great ideas that could have change our life forever or transform our generation, because someone/people told us they don’t make sense. We never took some vital steps and actions because we felt they are not going to make sense. Every great invention and outstanding accomplishments don’t always make sense at first. But achievers have learnt to always go further, it makes sense or not; because that’s the only way to know if it does.

Is that marriage not making sense, do you feel that job is a total mess. What ever the senseless situation that is starring at you may be; there is a sense in it. Don’t give up on that idea, relationship or dream, it may not be making sense now, but trust me it will. There is always a ‘sense’ after the little ‘non’ in non-sense.

Next week we will be going further, as I will be sharing with us on: How to Make Sense Out of Nonsense and Make Your Dreams Come Through. Don’t miss it.
